In September 2024, the project Prominent Reduction of loneliness among Older Migrants through Interventions and Social Engagement (PROMISE) officially started. This project aims to gain deeper insight into the taboo surrounding loneliness and the various forms and causes of loneliness among older migrants from non-European countries. Together with older migrants and welfare professionals, we generate new knowledge, which is then translated into practical tools. In addition, we use this knowledge to adapt interventions and assess their effectiveness. These tools and interventions aim to help reach more lonely older migrants and address their loneliness more effectively.
