Last week, Mirjam Kingma, together with Basak Bilecen, Tineke Fokkema, and Bianca Suanet, took part in the Pitch & Mix event at the Ministry of Justice and Security. During her presentation, she shared her research on the use of social networks in loneliness interventions among older migrants. Mirjam emphasized the importance of the quality of social contacts and openly discussing mutual expectations to help reduce loneliness within this group. Afterward, policy officers and researchers asked in-depth questions about how her findings could be applied in practice. The event clearly showed how scientific research and policy can reinforce each other.
