In June and July, Tineke Fokkema, Basak Bilecen, Nina Conkova, and Milynn Koene presented the project and the first insights at two major conferences for migration researchers: the annual IMISCOE conference in Paris and the Migration and Societal Change conference in Utrecht. Milynn Koene shared findings from her first manuscript on the underreporting of loneliness among older migrants, highlighting the role of stereotypes and social expectations. The manuscript has now been submitted to an academic journal. In addition, Basak Bilecen shared insights on the role of taboo in loneliness and the progress of interviews with older migrants. Nina Conkova presented the intervention Together Against Loneliness and the associated research on its impact. Together Against Loneliness is one of five existing loneliness interventions that are being evaluated and, if necessary, adjusted within PROMISE. The presentations led to interesting exchanges with other researchers.
